One Brand, Every Major City: Launching Kotak Mahindra Across Gujarat
When Kotak Mahindra launched child plans and opened insurance offices across Gujarat, a national brand had to arrive in several cities at once, and look, sound and work the same in every one of them. I led the branding implementation across Gujarat’s major cities for the launch.
The situation
Kotak Mahindra was launching child plans and opening insurance offices across Gujarat. For a financial-services brand, a launch like this is more than a product announcement. Every new office, and every local touchpoint around it, is a customer’s first proof that the brand can be trusted.
The challenge
Multi-city launches rarely break in strategy. They break in execution. Different cities bring different vendors, local teams and standards, and the brand ends up looking slightly different everywhere it appears. In most categories that’s a cosmetic problem. In financial services, where trust is the product, every inconsistency costs credibility.
What I did
I led the branding implementation across all of Gujarat’s major cities as the launch rolled out, so the brand arrived in every city as one brand, implemented to one standard, from the first office to the last.
The outcome
A single, consistent brand implementation across Gujarat’s major cities for the launch of child plans and insurance offices.
Why it matters for your business
Expansion is an execution problem as much as a strategy problem. Whether you’re opening offices in new cities, launching a product line across a state or entering a new country, the brand has to arrive the same way everywhere at once. Keeping one brand consistent across many locations is where enterprise growth is won or lost, and it needs someone senior to own it.
That is the work I now lead for enterprises as a Fractional CMO for expansion.
